Is Love Your Only Abode?
By Dr. Ayesha Noorain A
It’s easy to say I love you.
It’s easy to prove it too.
But what if our planned destination wedding
Is not the scripted destiny?
Imagine we reach there someday —
What if love expires? What if it fades?
How long will it sustain you… me… us… the future?
How long will we breathe in peace, my dear?
And what of our survival,
When it fades — sooner or later?
Tell me again…
Is love your only abode?
I’m certain there’s something beyond —
Something more certain, something more sustaining.
Maybe it’s respect.
Maybe it’s compatibility.
Maybe it’s care.
Maybe it’s a little of all of these.
Love adds flavor; it colors life.
Love in itself has no life.
Every time we care for each other
Before ourselves, a drop is poured.
Every ounce of respect
Pours another drop of love —
Because love resides in kind acts.
So rather than beginning a journey already filled with love,
Let’s start a journey and fill it with love —
Slowly… gently…
Drop by drop.
Drop by drop.
Each act of care, each ounce of respect,
Filling it… nurturing it…
Until it becomes the life we are meant to live.
Until every breath of peace
Turns into bliss.
