Is Love?

Is love a bed of roses?

Flowers – fragant and red

Yet thorns – prickly and mad

Left you smell lovely all night

Yet bleed you badly left and right

Is love a thrilling ride?

A roller coaster of heightened emotions

The high is too high

The low is too low

Makes you feel happy

Just as easily as it brings you sorrow

Is love a fire?

That warms your heart

Then turns into a blazing flame

That burns you alive

Or is love a morning sun?

Rising slowly up the horizon

Its soft edges comforting

Its golden lights calming

For once

The pieces fall right into place

For once

You don’t have to force them together

It just happened

A love so easy

A love so delicate

That you should treasure

Before it’s gone forever.
