Is Humanity the Key to Security?

Swooned by the winds of adventure,

And the drive to leave a lasting impression,

I dived and leaped and paced and climbed,

From one slope to another,

Leaving green valleys behind.

I wasted no time to stop and look,

Wanted to just reach the target before everyone else would.

And knowing I wasn't the only one,

Trying to win this imaginary race,

I waited for no one, even my closest friend,

I had to keep increasing my pace.

I knew he is not slow,

he can be faster than I am,

But he stopped to help a few,

Through a very difficult terrain,

Wanting him beside me,

A few seconds i had already wasted,

Losing my patience,

I had no choice but to be hasty,

Leaving him behind,

Hoping he would join me soon.

But now I am almost there,

And yes I am the only one yet,

Many joined after,

Something inside me just swelled with pride,

And now that my foolish ego is satisfied,

I turned to look for my best friend,

Last one struggling through the difficult terrain,

Everyone he helped had already reached,

I hear their smirks and laughter quietly,

As we all watch him slowly climb.

While others see a loser,

I see a man so secure in his mind,

He doesn't need to prove anything,

No constant need for approval,

A human among the rats,

A lion among the hyenas,

I feel my ego melt inside,

Transforming into love and respect for him,

He finally reached me and I held his hands,

Feeling blessed that he is my friend,

A real human being, a wonderful man.
