Is Growing up Really Wrth It?

So many years have passed since the last time we sang rhymes

Or played heartily or tried to mime

Everyone says that your inner child will always be with you

I am not sure if what they say is entirely true

Because stares of disgust follow when you are trying to have fun

“It is too childish”, they say

We used to look into mirrors and exclaim, “Wow! What beauty!”

And god knows who told that little child, “It’s ugly”

Was it the world or a voice that we allowed to grow?

Because that’s what the world wanted to sow

Since it could kill that little soul

Did we let it take control?

Well, we all grew up, not entirely perfect

But I guess that is the beauty of it

It feels like growing up isn’t all that great

But we still look forward to what will happen on a future date

As we still have an adventurous journey ahead of us

One which we cannot abandon because it always manages to intrigue us
