India got its independence when it was left by the English and became free of slavery, or is said so. But is India actually independent? A question which bothered the mind of a young man. The country moving forward, marking and celebrating much more independent anniversaries and jubilees, being celebrated all across the globe and congratulated by the most powerful leaders, flags being hoisted at every home,
colours being spread, sweets fed, mono acts depicting our great freedom fighters, all the blood rush and adrenaline on a single day, is this the true way of celebrating independent India he thought. He pondered for a while, contemplating at his question, ran through the history the country has been through, analysing events that occurred in the due course and his mind finally spoke to him – “We can proudly say with our chest up and chin high that we are walking on the land roamed by some of the greatest beings to ever walk the Earth. From the man who invented zero to the man who knew infinity, from the most brilliant literature architects to the designers of machines that took us to the Moon and Mars, from the greatest minds of Math to the geniuses of Science, the richest art forms, the diverse culture, the birth of Vedas, Puranas and scriptures that are epitomes of life, preachings enough for a lifetime of peace and happiness, architecture of the temples, study of astronomy, practise of medicine, spiritual and physical practises being renowned throughout the world, the way of life and many more. Let's take a moment to be proud of not the ones living but the ones who sacrificed, the ones who had to bend their knees and lose their necks for us to be free, the ones who blessed us with immense knowledge and inscribed in us the values we hold deep. It takes a tad bit of luck to be born an Indian and a huge responsibility to being an Indian.” Happy tears streamed down his eyes and he went on being a responsible man.
