In The Sand

By Dhwani Chopra

We were playing in the sand,

Can’t help but begin to fall in love again-

anticipation makes me catch up to your heart ahead.

Every sensation gives me trepidation about our inclination to just end up falling in love all over again.

Hesitation creeping up my veins,

I wonder how you knew to clear it out like rain- which had your warmth and showered down in misty sprays-

Leaking into my heart walls, making me addicted to you like you were some form of cocaine.

My heart beating as fast as a train for you-

Trying to not let you go overdue,

Trying to say goodbye but it never worked because to me you were the wind and I was the chime.

Me and you were a lullaby.
