In The Park

By Esther Giesbrecht

People sit and

People walk

People laugh and

People talk

In the Park

Trees watch and

Trees bloom

Trees dance and

Trees perfume

The air smells sweet

And fresh

It’s just what the People need

As they lace their hearts together

Like intertwining hands

They leave dimples in the ground

Where they walk and sit

The Flowers and the Bees admire

The intimacy of friendship

And the Trees support each crease

Of their neatly folded story

And each page brings them back:

In the Park

People meet and

People love

Trees provide and

Trees adore

And the Trees grow

And the Park thrives
