Better medicine for human ailments is another human being..? Sometimes what it all takes is that, as simple as generous listening to alleviate half of the suffering?
Active listening is a rare quality which may just happen to be part of their nature but certainly makes them compassionate human being. There are two categories of non listeners. First, they don’t listen at all second; they listen just waiting to react. There are plenty of them and sadly world don’t need them. Rare are those who patiently listen, then share their experience if relevant. Their problems don’t impede to dilute the intensity of the speaker. When the same emotion is not reciprocated, rest becomes inconsequential. How you pay attention is as relevant as how you speak. An emotional intelligent person knows how to respect through this simple empathetic act.
Natural instinct of a human is to share his sorrows unlike joys. Shared happiness may or may not accentuate the level of excitement but shared problem does reduce the burden.
Interruption when someone is talking is considered to be rude. It is as bad as an insult. When it happens, both are at a loss. One who is only keen on talking will lose out on life lessons that he may have learnt, being curious. The other person would get hurt over and again only to slowly drift away from you. Does it make someone a bad person..? Well no! But they lose people at every stage of life unknowingly.
It is one of those fine human qualities which make someone kind and gentle. Listen more talk less is not an understatement. It can enrich your life as it does others
