Imbalance

By Suhani Sunil Siyal

2021 a gray year indeed

Passed by in super speed

Let's start at new year

Where we stood together to cheer

Like monkeys we celebrated

As the new year awaited

From filling oceans with tears

And screaming songs into the air

The best and worst days

All felt like a maze

But we have nearly reached the end

And now we look back with dears friends

The exhilarating chinese new year

And the sad days of march appear

When my dad came home

And were disgusted by the taste of honeycomb

My birthday as the year’s crown jewel

Swimming with my friends in the pool

Doing the daily chores

And being held hostage indoors

Time passed from basketball games in the rain

To crying on the floor filled with pain

Days past and here we are again

Nearing the end, we hold these memories in a jar

Hoping for a better year

So we can all be together and cheer
