Choked by expectations,

we somehow forgot to breathe.

A moment of peace,

Suddenly too expensive to ask for.

Too busy trying to survive,

We forgot to really live.

Racing each other to reach new heights,

We pushed past everyone we know.

Blinded by our desire to win,

We somehow forgot to feel.

And at the end we stood,

alone and weary,

With not a single shoulder to lean on.

Reaching into thick curtains of mist,

Trying to hold onto something unknown.

In our search of something new,

We forgot to love the old.

And at last, at the brink of death,

We begged to gods for some more life.
