If you do ever come back —

let it be for me and only me this time.

Let me be the special one, and you in my shoes this time.

With a silent plea for me to be by your side,

let me be your pride, not just an option kept aside.

Come back with all your heart, not just a piece or two;

let it be for an eternity, not for a passing hour or two.

Come back with that warm smile you took along;

bring back the tender piece of flesh within me that’s been dead so long.

Bring back the light my eyes once hosted;

bring back every little hope I lost.

I’ll admit you never owned me back then,

my love could not shine in your fireflies’ den.

So come back with your head held high in my name,

your fireflies surrendering to my love’s flame.

If you do ever come back — Give me the life I once dreamt.
