If I Were a Phoenix
By Barkha Poptani
“still I will rise even if I turned to ashes...”
Doomed and boomed I sit in a depth
Under the bed of the sea I hide my steps
Half defeated half won in the grounds of shreds
I am a phoenix, I shall conquer the requital of the dead
Bleached and stitched all together my strengths
I symbolise my truths within my vein
Conquest me with the worst I dare
I am a phoenix, I had my wings made a flare
Struggled and giggled when I perch on the clouds
In the light of the sky I camouflage my doubts
Little no soon the fire in my war caught a collision
But the ignition within rushed with the intensity of a vision
Won and done with the last and I touch
No envy or fragility triumphed over to hitch me to the hutch
Neither my sword of prevail ever bent to the knees
I am no more than a vanquishing bird with a dauntless eye until the last crease
