If I Were a Muse

A wildflower, soused in perfume

Blunging well into the sidewalk

How an author would word me, I assume

A free-spirit untamed by the jejune

Eagerly flourishing in a conformist flock

Blooming in the wild, immersed in perfume

Never to invite attention to her front room

But once plucked, she’d woo you with her talk

If I were pieced as the author would assume

Patience wins her trust so don’t fret and fume

For this hidden side of hers to come unlock

Flowering in the wilderness, bathed in perfume

Bold yet humble as if she were a May-bloom

Tuned like delicately crafted baroque

Words quoting me, if the author were to assume

Although unpredictable like the happenings of misfortune

You’ll never meet another with the same analogue

Like a wildflower, doused in perfume

How an author would word me, I assume
