If grief was a person

If grief had limbs and a beating heart and a name, I would be it. On days like this, I cry at everything. Multiple times a day, no matter where I am, I see something or think of someone and I feel my face turn hot, my throat tightens, and my eyes well up, and I use all my might to keep myself together. At the end of the day I am emotionally spent, and I have fallen apart. I know that I am grieving, not anything in particular, but life itself. The loss of love and betrayal have become so normalised that no one takes a second to grasp the gravity of it. It can turn you into a graveyard of the happiest versions of you that you are left to mourn. I stand above my headstone and I wonder who's more dead, the girl six feet under or the girl standing above her?
