I Yearn

I want to press my hands against your ribs until I hear them give,

to feel the sharp edges of your breath caught between my fingers,

to hold you so close that your lungs forget how to fill with air.

I want to trace the lines of your spine with my fingertips,

to feel the tension coil like a spring beneath your skin,

to pull you apart and put you back together in the dark,

where every vertebrae declares devotion.

I want to cup your heart in my palm,

to watch it hammer like a trapped bird,

to listen to the frantic rhythm that says you’re alive,

even when the world tries to silence you.

I want to grip your wrists until the blood sings in your veins,

to watch the pulse throb like a warning,

to hold you prisoner in the storm of my hands,

where nothing can escape but your faith.

I want to bury my face in your hair,

to inhale the wildness tangled in every strand,

to lose myself in the dark forest of your scent,

where every breath is an oath and a threat.
