I Will Not Allow It

By Ridhima Bhagawati

I will not allow it.

A thousand shrill tearings of the throat,

Or the single scream in a fever dream,

With teardrops smudging precious study notes.

I will not allow it.

To infiltrate, guns ablazing,

To stain the floorboards of mansions

I have slept on, stargazing.
