I used to think I was strong,

That seems like so long ago,

Time and time again I’m proven wrong,

And I’m shot down when I try to grow.


No matter how high you reach,

Everybody seems to reach higher,

You can only ever be the second sandiest beach,

Only the second strongest voice in the choir.



I don’t wish to be the strongest,

To dominate in every discipline,

My life to be the longest,

For my cooking skills to be Michelin.


I just want to be able to compete,

To not lose when I've given my all,

To not be in the backseat,

To be able to reach and be considered tall.
