I Used to be a Cup

I used to be a cup,

Till an unwelcome guest pushed me off the shelf

And I broke into four pieces on the floor.

Then I put myself together as a plate.

But the previous residents despised me and pushed me off a much higher shelf.

Still, I put myself together.

This time as a bowl,

With more than a few cracks despite being so young. And they embraced me,

Till I was that very same cup again.
