I Miss

My friends are a gift,

The fun playing football and cycle rides,

The birthday celebrations and presents,

Are the precious moments I miss.

My friends, who are my world,

Always warm and cheerful,

But in this pandemic,

They seem not so near.

The quarantine washed away joy like a tsunami,

Left us locked up, lonely and masked,

It feels like an eternity without friends,

At home like an endless desert of sadness.

Oh! I so much long to see the world again,

To feel the fresh breeze and sunlight,

To walk in the greenery and

To climb the hills, all over again.

I wish this sorrow be withdrawn,

I wish to experience the precious moments again,

I wish for the world to be the same again,

I wish to be free once again.
