I’m broken

Yarubbi

I look beyond people’s façades

You are not faking it.

You understand feelings, you understand taxes

You understand life.

I’m faking it.

My heart is often marinading in marinading in darkness.

A constant tugging that keeps my smile from reaching ear to ear when everyone else does.

A loud ringing that silences the boisterous laughter I bring.

A slight dimming in the shimmer of my eyes.

I would love to be ” happy”.

I want to understand the other side

Of my reality.

But the roots have dug in too deep,

I waited too long and now I cannot rid myself of its identity.

It’s in everything I do.

In my thoughts, in my feelings.

It’s in my hopes and fears.

I pray to an emptiness I do not believe in, to save me.

Save me, because I cannot save myself.

I will not.
