The red glow hung low over the horizon

colours painting the sky with precision

placed here & there with unforseen vision

soft pastels and neon bursts like a collision

reminding me of hesitant indecision

of which artistry i could simply siphon

i thought of then & I thought of now

deep in thought I furrowed my brow

reminding myself that somewhere somehow

nowhere near macao

i was at a place called mindanao

the island city spread across the waves

my mood dips low to architraves

& I think about how my brain craves

my love my heart for whom I would slave

away and away towards her memory

& now I dissolve into beggary

oh how rudimentary

for every time the earth dips into night

I am reminded of my lonely plight

I hate the sunset, for it reminds me of what once was mine.
