I'd Like to Grow Old

I'd like to grow old and die

Not wither in a trepid life

Wishing the stream was smoother

While fearing the oars by my side

I'd like to grow old and die

Not worry over what-ifs and goodbyes

Life's long, but not so much

And the days they tend to fly by

I’d like my limbs to cover hills

And rolling plains with ease

And walk to my end happily

After countless lands and seas

Keeping sadness and joy for company

And everything else in between

My feet take me towards rapturous

And inevitable finality

For why worry when you fail, life’s tiresome and unfair

To everyone, and pretty much everywhere

All your heart’s desires, of all that you admire

Can be met with time to spare

For how crazy it would be, to live life in our eternity

Meeting experiences and new dawns with a smile

And leave all not needed, life’s too short — you’ll see it

To keep hate in this beauty would be a crime

Until I greet the end, perhaps in the company of a friend,

With a loving heart I’ll prepare my goodbye

My voice will never waver, and may my truth gleam forever

Before I, like the green leaf of spring,

Finally grow old and die
