How I Earned My Wings

The gates opened

And I stepped in

Into the corner of the world

Where the lights remained dim

Breeds of bats

Were awaken by the click of the gate A lady wearing a frown stepped in

It all changed my fate

The bats screeched

A havoc broke out

The lady stood silent

I began to shout

My gesture didn’t please her

She rolled her eyes at me

A thousand feeling compiled

But I couldn’t express them for free

A strong breeze blew

She pinned her skirt down

I raised my hands in glee

She said ‘ how’ll I handle you till dawn’ A million phrases came to my mind But

I only showed a frown

Theful lady made my blood boil I flung a pebble in the air

It struck a bird so hard

It dropped dead somewhere

She urged towards it

Tears rolling down her cheek

She was disgusted by my barbaric act She could hardly speak

She kneeled before the corpse

Her tears wouldn’t dry

I wish I could pacify her

But I didn’t even try

I couldn’t last a moment more With her

In this desperate need to get rid of her I did something I’d never!

From the wings of the bird

I plucked out a feather

Unknowingly I had crafted myself

A tiny pair of wings

I was afloat in the air

With the help of these tiny little things

I flew around the globe

Even danced with the moon I guaranteed myself

I’d forget the lady soon

I didn’t forget ’er I fear I flew back to the gate

But the moment I reached there Alas I was late

The lady’s tears

They didn’t dry

Even the corpse of the bird decayed

But she didn’t stop to cry

Moreover I wasn’t interested To Know why

I enjoyed seeing her cry I didn’t pacify her

This may seem shallow of me I didn’t want to try
