How Have You Really Been

How have you really been, my friend?

Is the smile you’re wearing hard to defend? Does the weight you carry press you down, As you keep going, hiding your frown?

Since your last heartache, does it still sting? Do you find any peace, or does it still cling? How have you felt since dreams fell apart, Does the sadness still linger in your heart?

When the one you love starts drifting away, Do you feel lost, with nothing to say?

How does it feel watching your parents age, Do you wrestle with grief, caught in a silent rage?

Are you eating well, are your nights at ease? Or does anxiety wake you, refusing to cease? Do misunderstandings leave you feeling torn, Lost in the quiet, feeling worn?

If you need to talk, I’m here, don’t hide,

I won’t judge; I’m on your side.

Just look in the mirror, you’ll find me there, I’m within you, always aware.

Together we’ll face whatever life sends,

I’m with you always, until the journey ends.
