Hoping

You stand on the corner,

Waving frantically

For anyone passing by -

So that they might see.

You’re hoping they’d notice,

Slow down, take pity.

Hoping they'd invite you

To supper, and tea.

Hoping they’d talk

And ask, and then they’ll realise.

So you stand there and wave and think up more lies.
