Aimlessly drifting at sea

A raft of birch wood

brittle and fragile

represents a fisherman’s hope

of ever going back to shore

mast lowered, depressed

paints a picture of his somber gaze

upon his fading silhouette

as dusk bids farewell to day

But the end of day

marks the beginning of another

So as the sun shall rise again

He struggles to stand, and begins to say

<His will reforged at the crack of dawn

‘Midst roiling waves and raging storms>

“For what humanity contains

Beneath the godless chimes

Are the thralls of despair

But also a strength of will;

A will to embrace the waves

And sink in despair

Or to fight the tides

And grasp the light”

so as the sea gives way to shore

and the people beckon with delight

he too hides a weathered smile

Against the fading light

if you ever feel alone,

aimless, drifting at sea

don’t picture the roiling waves

and the stormy sea

but the picturesque sun

and the hope that lies in the horizon

for the shore

shall reach you

if u reach for it too
