Him And Her
By Naina Parasher
I had a friend
A friend who dreamt of clear day skies
And rough rainy nights
In primrose hues
He devoured every sight
Be it a child jumping in the puddle
The pitter patter of the raindrops
Or the behest of a stubborn dog
Flowing in the melancholy of the sunsets
He wandered through in his favorite beret
Watching the glow of the evening light
He set the mood to his delight
Yet no matter how far he went
It was never really his night
She came
She came like a storm
A storm that pursued his light
His cheery conviction
But odd ended eviction
A rare plight
She couldn’t reconcile
Reconcile with her thoughts
The promises she had made
Yet she arrived
It bothered his mind
But it had to subside
For in his pure life
She was the best kind
The only one who could
The only one who ever did
Bring out his vulnerable side
Cause what we didn’t see was
That his naivete was never right
He was always so bright
But he knew the realities of his pride
Of his belief in this side
Of always choosing kind
With her
He was protective,
And she
Always poised
Unlike the way the world perceived
Together
They formed the strongest fight
To better the world
With a belief in the benign.
