Hey God, It's Me Again

It's a twisted world,

a world of lies and distrust,

where no one is safe under anyone's bosom.

Why are humans like this?

Why?

Because this isn't what I bargained for.

This isn't how I wanted this to be.

I never wanted this cry for help.

A world where love is hardly real,

where emotions feel like weakness,

where being in love means being less of a man,

or wanting a man means you are foolish.

Oh God,

I didn't bargain for this.

Hello God,

it's me again.

I will continue to ask all these questions

until I have been given an answer,

given a reasonable explanation.

Why?

Why don't people enjoy comfort?

Why does weeping feel more constant than joy?

It's not a disease, you know.

Why does sorrow settle more comfortably than joy?

Hey God,

it's me again.

This world leaves me wondering,

thinking,

"Why was I even born?"

I don't like it here.

This place bruises the heart before the body.

It's hard.

It's a constant cry for help here.

I don't want that.

I don't like that...

Why?

Falling in love is so scary.

Well, why wouldn't it be?

Love itself doesn't even have a defined meaning here anymore. No one understands that feeling anymore.

It's so scary to fall in love without being pessimistic. I don't want that life.

Tears stream down my face like a waterfall,

remembering the times when things felt real...

if there ever were any.

It's so sad.

Where are the lovers?

Where are the real ones?

Where are the ones who are happy to be happy? What happened?

Why this twisted world, God?

We are tired.

We are not strong.

Oh... who am I kidding?

We are not even soldiers.

We have grown so weary that we don't live just to be; we live to survive,

to fight,

only to end up in a ditch.

Hey God,

We are lost.

We are tired.

When will this end?

We are tired of singing songs of affliction, of settling even when it feels uncomfortable.

...

Listen to us.
