Heaving in hiding
By Sayali Pawar
Why are sacred bonds always coveted in secrecy?
As if they’re afraid of letting me love you
A high nose asks, why can’t I do it in broad daylight
Of why the fervour drops when all is bright;
How do I explain the way you play with my hair in cold breeze,
How the flirting with twinkling stars is,
How you talk the most through silence
And how you ease out wherever it pains.
How its best to rest with you but I don’t feel like wanting to
Cuddling with the chill that covers me like a sweater to rely
While moon longs for my ocean of emotions
Gravity just an excuse, sea waves aren’t the only ones trying to fly.
You fit in so perfect, like the last piece to my puzzle sheet
Without you, I’m still me, just quite not complete.
If you stay like that, all the logic bends
Yet I don’t ridicule their concerned eyes
Partly, because I understand them
Partly, because I don’t want to earn the same.
The day they find out about us
Will be the day of swarming theories of delusion on gust
If you stay like that, my love will be over when the world ends.
Nights are scary, they say
It’s when hungry monsters go patrolling everywhere
The one’s who ghastly snark
And snatch the weak leaving behind no mark
I tiptoe to hear when those come in
But can only feel the beats to your winding.
Even all these words belong to you
I’m but a mere pen to those hands
Unable to put me down once the shadows rants.
Yet they ask, why can’t I do it in sunlight
When I grow brave enough, I’ll gain a clear eye,
And say,
Because I want to fall in love when no one’s watching
I want to fall when no one’s around to catch me
So, I can dive deeper into the clouds
Into the cloaks of darkness with only two shrouds.
And feel you closing into me,
Hugging me, alas.
