Heaven and Hell

By Priyansh Singh

An age ago, you were our equal,

And now you bask in the heavens, drunk with wine,

Loved by the ones you now amuse,

Never was there a deceiver so fine.

But come night, your sleepless form

Slinks through the black gates of hell.

The ones you feast with know nothing of the truth,

Or long ago you would have fell.

No act is below or above you.

All achieved with your honeyed words.

Yet it is a weapon that can dwarf

Both the sword and the gun.

And us Earthlings, in anger, lie all pell-mell,

As you cross the roads between heaven and hell.
