I like to think I am

As fun as Him

Wearing His skin:

Allegedly knowledgeable

Albeit awkward

Not in the sense of being

Socially unawares rather

Instead, unable to…

Consolidate myself

As that guy they know

Who adorns Himself in green

Like that frog He loves dearly

close enough to Him:

Literary, book-smart, nerdy–

Caring, a sweetheart, needy—

but quirky, creative, willy-nilly!

A weirdo trying to avoid being caught

needs a history to build on, so

I borrow His to

Reinvent myself messily, struggling to put myself together…

Is it me?

For who am I without Him? A past to rely on?

While I prefer the jester rabbit more…

I prefer purples and blacks and greys and

Reds, blues, whites, and pinks,

Yellows and oranges and browns,

Green was the least of them all… but now He suits me.
