Have You Ever Been In Love
By Vusurumarthi. Akshaya Srija
Someone once asked me if I’ve ever been in love.
For a moment, I was silent.
How could I say…
I’m in love with golden sunsets and the way birds sing when the world feels tired.
I’m in love with how trees stand quietly, making me feel less alone.
I’m in love with the bitterness of coffee — reminding me that life isn’t always sweet, but it’s still worth tasting.
I’m in love with the stories clouds tell as they wander across the sky.
I’m in love so deeply it sometimes hurts.
I’m in love with someone my heart chose, even if theirs never did.
I’m in love with the ache of loving from afar.
I’m in love with how places we leave behind somehow keep us.
And still…
I’m in love with morning light slipping through curtains.
I’m in love with empty roads at night that listen without asking.
I’m in love with quiet songs that say what I can’t.
I’m in love with old photographs that hold pieces of who I was.
I’m in love with strangers I’ll never meet, whose laughter fills a room.
I’m in love with how pure my intentions are when I care.
I’m in love with how music gathers the broken pieces of my heart.
I’m in love with how those broken pieces become art.
I’m in love with the version of me that keeps trying, keeps hoping.
I’m in love with the woman I’m becoming.
I’m in love with every part of me that taught me to believe in myself.
So how could I ever explain…
when I’m in love with life itself — because life, after all, is nothing but love. in 300 words
