SHRI GURU RAM DAS IS THE 4 TH Guru of the sikhs. Guru sahib ji is

the son-in-law to the 3 rd Nanak , Guru Amardas ji and father to the


5 th Guru, Guru Arjan Dev ji.


Guru ram das ji was born as jetha and was raised up in poverty by

his naniji (mother’s mother). Jetha was a virtuous soul from

young, perhaps something they gained living a life with limited

food,water, and comforts. Things we take for granted.


EQUALITY


GURU RAM DAS JI was strictly opposed to the caste system.

He advocated for equality in every community. He emphasized

the openness of sikhi to people of every caste.


FOUNDATION OF AMRITSAR


GURU RAM JI founded the city of amritsar, an important city for

sikh. He laid the foundations in 1570 and built up the city


throughout his life.


Contribution


Guru ram das ji wrot 638 shabads in shri guru granth sahib ji.


They were all composed in the 30 ragas.


One of the significantshabads composed was that the one that


gives a clear and direct order as to what a sikh is :


Guru satgur ka jo sikh aakaaeee

One who calls himself a sikh of the guru.

PAATH, THE SIKH WEDDING SHABAD, A POWERFUL

COMPOSITION WHICH DIRECTLY TELLS US THE FOUR
