Guilty

Eighteen months ago I was buried here,

Tears and terror was all I saw in their eyes.

One after the other they left footprints to disappear,

But, the old widow stayed because she lives in lies.Flowers were bought each day by her lifeless hands,

Dirt was wiped off my tomb by the tears in her dry eyes.

Unwilling to go back, at night with her weak knees she stands,

Making her way through the dark she turns back and waves before sunrise.Months pass by but not a day is missed when she doesn't,

She sings my favorite songs and then whines in silence.

She sat and watched how time was hypnotized but she wasn't,

She's almost dead inside but finds life in my presence.

I live in guilt when I watch this scene everyday hiding behind the trees,

But, it's better for two disloyal hearts to melt together and for one to freeze.
