Grief

You think you’ve done it

you think you’re doing better

but then it hits you

as you’re driving over a bridge

watching the sun as it rises

wondering why the person you love

isn’t beside you watching it too

as the tears return to your eyes

you can’t help but think

can they see it?

from wherever it is they are

and is it nice for them

To grief

They say that you are the price we pay for love but you are darker than any love I’ve ever carried. You remind over and over again of their absence in this world.

And just when I think I am doing better, that I am finally starting to make peace with them being gone, you remind me of the hurt in my heart. You remind me that they aren’t here to live beside me anymore.

Grief is something we all go through, so why does it feel so lonely?
