'God Beside Me.'

By Mrs. Mithi Das

People misunderstood my silence,

They weighed my love in gold and greed

But how do I explain a heart so true,

To souls who only know need?

I gave them warmth, I gave them care,

Held every bond with gentle art

But when they looked, they couldn’t see,

The honesty within my heart.

My tears they called them weakness,

My kindness just a play,

Yet none could see the storm inside

That I hid, day after day.

They said I wasn’t of their “level,”

Their pride stood tall, their hearts so small

Their ego dressed in velvet lies,

And trampled love most of all.

But no more  no more I’ll plead,

No more I’ll chase what fades away.

For I’ve seen Krishna Walk with Arjun,

And faith is all I need today.

Now I rise  fierce, not fragile,

A tigress with scars that gleam.

Touch not my soul, nor test my calm,

For I’ve awakened from my dream.

My dignity my crown of fire,

My self-respect  my sword divine.

I bow to none but God above,

And walk my path… alone, yet fine.
