Girl On A Train

By Hitesh Shahani

At the age of 22, Rohan had never been in love. He was a shy guy, who always kept to himself, and struggled with expressing his emotions. He was content with his life, though. He had a good job, a supportive family, and a close group of friends. But deep down, he longed for something more, something that would make him feel complete.

One day, Rohan was traveling with his family on a train from Delhi to Amritsar. They had a total of 9 people in their group, with 2 people in one compartment and 7 in the other. As they settled in, Rohan noticed a girl sitting in the other compartment, with just one seat to herself. She was absolutely beautiful, with long, curly hair and a kind smile.

Rohan couldn't take his eyes off of her, but he was too shy to approach her. He spent the entire journey stealing glances at her, but couldn't muster up the courage to talk to her.

As the train journey continued, Rohan became increasingly anxious. He was not sure where was the girl going to get off. He had to do something before it was too late.

Finally, he decided to write his name and phone number on a piece of paper and give it to her before she got off the train. He tore off a piece of paper packaging from the food they had ordered and wrote down his contact information. But he didn't want to risk getting caught by his family, so he waited until they were all asleep before making his move.

He got off his berth and tiptoed across the aisle, towards the girl's compartment. He saw that she was still awake, watching something on her phone with her headphones on. He took a deep breath and placed the paper on the seat next to her, hoping that she would see it before getting off the train.

But just as he was about to slip away, one of his cousins woke up and caught him in the act. Rohan quickly made up an excuse, saying that he was just stretching his legs, and went back to his berth, feeling embarrassed and defeated.

As the train approached Ambala station, Rohan's heart began to race as he saw the girl packing her bags. He knew that this was his last chance to make a move. He got off the train and saw the girl standing near the elevator, talking on her phone.

Rohan's father also got down to get some tea from a nearby stall, and Rohan stood there nervously, trying to work up the courage to approach the girl. Rohan hesitates to approach her, but his father insists on getting tea. Rohan takes the opportunity to stay behind, assured his father that he would get tea for him and tried to give the piece of paper to her. However, before he can approach her, she disappears from sight.

Rohan was devastated. He had missed his chance. Rohan frantically looks around for her but can't find her. As the signal turns orange, he boards the train, feeling disappointed. He crushes the piece of paper with his name and number and throws it on the tracks.
