This sensation was startling,

It awoke me from my deep slumber.

This pain was terrifying,

As if monsters were let out, clawing, a cluster.

This urge was horrifying,

The desire to devour something, to destroy, to plunder.

The sound was thundering,

Deafeningly loud, as if the earth had started to crumble.

The realization was astonishing,

This want for something, for food, was my stomach rumbling.
