FUTURE LAND

It was a city of thousands

Now buried in the sand

The ruins of the old pavements

Lies naked on the dreary land.

The sun sets here in the West

The moon shines across the night

Then if you give your mind some rest

You can hear the cries of twilight.

You can see some young man walk

They smile and laugh and gently talk

And some lady in a sky-blue dress

Some wives, some lovers, some mistress

You can see some old gentlemen

Holding tightly their bamboo cranes

Walking along young kids with brighter brains.

Well if you clear your visions even more

You might can spot some street vendors

Maybe some cobblers or some soldiers

Marching across the moonlit lanes

Some lady in the old nightclub

Might sing a tune of lust and love

And move her silhouette in a graceful dance.

If you're lucky you might have the chance

To see her red lips and the dreamy eyes

To hear her pianist, play the minor tunes

To hear them dance in the ruins

Of the old house clubs of this moonlit paradise.

You might wonder where it is

Whether I have seen it, yes, I have

It's the future of your bright cities

You can see in the reflection of the future.

Hold tight, my dear, as this Dreamland

Will fall apart in time, soon to come,

And when the stars will shine brighter in the lightless land

You, me and us will have a dance in the midnight sun.
