Don’t you dare call us time-passers!

We are the torch-bearers of your Cultural History.

Before pointing at us as failures,

Just because ours isn’t a nine-to-five profession,

Or even, laughing or pitying at our struggles to survive with our art,

Just remember,

We are the gatekeepers of the soul of a society.

The last reminiscence, of everything gentle and beautiful of humanity,

Before it is completely mechanized.

We are the Gandharvas,

Ancient. Primordial. Sacred. Heavenly.

The bearers of the first tunes of music in the Universe.

The carriers, of the flowing melodies from the divine realms,

To the Mortal Realm of Men and Women.

Our musical instruments, have long immersed,

The Universe in symphonies and ethereal joy,

Encompassing every aspect of the Galaxies.

Music flows in our blood, like stardust and ether.

The cultural identity of a nation, a society, its consciousness,

Stands on the blood we spill while we dance, sing, or practice our art,

Like ripples in a river, or waves following waves,

We pass on Sacred Ancestry of Knowledge and Devotion,

From generation to generations.

Our sweat, blood, tears, injury form the water and our bodies, form the cement,

On whose base,

A civilization creates its tastes, approbations, and its sense of appreciation,

For everything which are beautiful, and gentle, on God’s Earth.

So, before belittling our passion for Art and Divinity,

Remember,

We carry Celestial Ancestry with Us.
