Freedom

Freedom,

what does that mean to me?

Is it the ability to go to school, even if I’m a girl?

Is it the right to get sick and know it won’t bankrupt me?

Or maybe freedom is the ability to love whomever I choose?

Without a fear of repercussions, such as losing my very life.

Maybe freedom is something smaller,

Just being able to ride a city bus without fearing a bomb is going to blow us all up.

Freedom, whatever the definition is for you, we are lucky enough to call it ours.

This great nation with all its flaws,

Is at time the very definition of freedom.

And we should thank our lucky stars,

And the men and women who gave their lives for us to have,

Freedom.
