Found

By Carol Ann Wells

Are you wandering in a maze of deep dark “why’s”,

not knowing how to find in which direction lies

the right way you should go, or the right way to be,

so you can escape a faceless obscurity?

And you want to call out, but you don’t know the name,

that of anyone you think could truly explain

all the “why’s”, the “what for’s” and the “who do you see,

if only you’d come close enough to look at me?”

Full of fear, you cry out, “Doesn’t somebody know

why I’m here, and to where I am supposed to go?

Why I’m aimlessly drifting, and lured by the song

that my demons all sing just to reel me along?”

If “the maze” is the place where you happen to be

So afraid and alone and unable to see,

Well, then I would so much like to let you, now, know,

it’s okay! There’s a place where the lost can all go.

For the Found, well, they had all been lost just like you.

No one knew “where to go”, “who to be”, “what to do”.

But they all, in their seeking, soon got to be found,

to be gathered and guided the right way around

to a meaningful life, where they’re loved and adored

more than any has ever so loved them before,

Now with new peace of mind, all their hearts overflow,

filled with awe and with joy thanks to what they now know.

For we each were uniquely detailed and designed

with a body, a soul, and a free will and mind.

For with love, our great father used masterful hands,

and he shaped each of us to be part of his plan.

He has made each one of us an integral part

of a masterpiece formed by the holiest heart.

And you can see the Lord’s love as it permeates,

and ripples outward from the souls that he creates.

But in heaven’s realm, proud Lucifer had the gall,

as the haughty, most beautiful angel of all,

to try to usurp God, and take his master’s place,

as ruler of heaven, earth, and the human race.

And so he and his cronies were cast out by God.

They’re all destined for hell, but it’s the earth they trod.

They all seek to beguile all the humans with lies

so that they’ll cheat, and they’ll steal, kill, and compromise.

For the living can choose to ignore the Lord’s light,

turn their backs on the Lord, choose what’s wrong, not what’s right.

For the Lord gives free will to accept or refuse.

So it’s not a “You have to.” It’s “If you so choose.”

You can walk in the darkness, deciding to be

one who’s corrupted or deadened by apathy.

We’re so prone to give in when temptation attracts,

be enticed into doing such immoral acts.

Our soul, tainted, we cannot make restitution.

So we face God’s judgement, with no absolution.

But our Lord so adores us, he sent down his son

to do what only by our Savior could be done.

Fully God, fully man, and so humble and pure,

only Jesus could selflessly love and endure

all the suffering, death; the price had to be paid.

All God’s wrath at man’s sin upon Jesus was laid.

And then, resurrected, salvation is retrieved

for all those who repent and who choose to believe.

And it’s God’s gift of grace, that through Christ we can be

saved from death, made righteous, souls sanctified and free

with the Lord in his glory for all eternity.
