Forsaken

My emotions are numb,

My lungs forget to respire,

Each breath feels like a pang of sorrow,

Oblivious of what ensues tomorrow.

I walk on the shards of my broken heart

With a smile painted on my face like art,

Someone who’d look at me would never perceive,

Of my laceration so deep.

The echoes of your euphonious voice

Ravel the knots of my being,

I am fettered.

Shackled in a prison of my own heartbreak,

Craving freedom.

Perhaps the bleakness is what was meant for me

And a gleaming beacon I’d never see

It’s catastrophic all around,

No escape to be found.

When my light,

You,

Left me,

I’ve forsaken everything that is to be.
