Forgotten Lullabies

By Pranitha R

The dawn fading into the dusk was my favourite thing

For it meant you’d be here

My phone glued to my hand, waiting for your words “I am back”

As the nights grew darker

The nights held our moments

The ones with stardust

The ones covered in dark gloom

The ones that made my heart bloom

The ones where you were here

Conversations of yearning, longing

Hearts beating, even racing

Racing into the unknown path to find yours

Words turned to giggles

Giggles into laughs, kisses and sweet saviours

Memories of your messy lullaby is etched in my heart

The beautiful melody I sleep to was you

The nights held your soul with mine

And it is still filled with my yearning for your words, “I am back”.

The room doesn’t seem to move on

Doesn’t change or transform

It is paused in a timeline where the nights meant you

And a part of me never left that room.
