Forgetful Felicity

By Vaani Tantia

Felicity was a forgetful little girl. She forgot many things like doing an errand for her mother, completing her homework, or practicing her music. A lot of times she used to lose track of time and be late to her music lessons or to school.

One day she woke up and got dressed. As usual, she forgot to wash her face properly or wear her watch. Then she packed her bag for school and forgot her colors on her table. When she went down to eat her breakfast she said “ Good morning Mother”. As it was already late Felicity wrapped her two sausages in her napkin and said and rushed. On the way, she ate her sausages but forgot to clean her hands.

At school that day Felicity got into a lot of trouble. Her teacher got cross with her because she forgot her colors and when she went to put up her hand to answer a question her Teacher Molly saw her stained hands smelling of sausages and she scolded poor Felicity to tears. Games weren’t much fun either because Felicity was fifteen minutes late and had to stand aside.

While she was going home she watched the dogs in the park and the toys in the toyshop. She forgot all about dinner at home. Suddenly she remembered and rushed home. “ How many times have I told you to remember the time? Now you shall have a cold dinner because there was hot soup and chicken. ” scolded her mother. “ I’m sorry Mother. I promise I’ll be on time next time” said Felicity and started eating.

In the evening Felicity’s Grandmother invited her to tea but Felicity missed the bus. “ Oh, Mummy please can I catch the next bus” wept Felicity because she hadn’t seen her grandma in many months. “ No! The next bus doesn’t go to Grandma’s house and this will be a lesson for you to not keep forgetting things” said her Mother. “ I promise I won’t ever forget things in the future” sobbed Felicity.

And she didn’t. She was always on time and never forgot to put her books in her bag. She never forgot her music and always did her chores on time. Sometimes, all you need is one lesson to set things right!
