Forge
By Akshika Singh
The hardest part was crumbling,
Surrendering myself to their lies.
I couldn’t grasp my courage,
Like a flower submerged in snow.
They believed a false rumour,
Convinced that it was a memory.
My protests were hollow sounds,
I was told to keep my voice down.
I thought I had lost the chance,
Lost my momentum, engulfed by lies.
I struggled to find myself,
Find my way in this barren desert.
I realized that I couldn’t be found,
That new beginnings aren’t easy to come across.
I resolved to do what most avoid,
My courage bloomed, I crafted myself.
It was a slow pace to clarity,
But I was gaining steam;
And in the end, I forged myself.
I forged Resilience.
