Forever Bound
By Shefali
Chaotic mornings,
Sunny days,
Blaring traffic,
Skimming mails,
Weekends end,
As onuses hail.
Monday’s here to greet us again.
Carpool my way to work,
Through the same streets,
By the same church.
But who is to notice?
When monotony silently lurks,
When eyes stuck to screens,
And minds quietly swerve.
When music’s my only solace,
In this insipid world.
The days last longer,
Hours too many to fill,
An empty repetition echoes around,
To surrender to my will.
To leave behind trying days,
To start the day anew,
To walk to work every day,
As a gentle breeze blew.
Constantly ringing phones,
Silently growing chores,
A wordless transition,
From hopeful to deplore.
Entrapped in the vision,
To fly and to soar,
Inspiration is overrated,
When the foreseeable is so sure.
So, I ride along the calm,
Until, a chaos is found.
A chaos so loud and soothing,
It begs to be abound.
But until I leave this tedium,
Sanguine and sound,
It feels like, for now,
I am forever bound.
