Fleeting Light

In the corner of a hall I stood with pain

Amidst a wealthy show, feeling regret

Friend by my side, yet started to lose hope

From the other side, a lass stole my heart

The distance was small but felt like a year of light

The feeling seemed wrong but the person seemed right

I stepped forward, glass in my hand, hoping for what’s right

Thinking this girl could mend all my lingering pain

But a friend’s quick snatch and call, fast as light

The lass vanished and leaving the night with regret

Had a smile on my face as the girl smiled in my heart

Thinking it was fate, then thought there’d be hope

One month had passed and I began to lose hope

One month since I held a glass in my right

One month had been since my stolen heart

one month had been since this pain

one month had been since the night of regret

and one month had been since I saw the morn light

Out I went to look for her in the light

Each step had me with lesser hope

Against all odds, against the weight of regret

Hoping to find her and make things right

For I had ‘nough of this pain

And none more in my heart

Felt a raise in the beat of my heart

A car with the lass through quick as light

I was glad and lost all my pain

I raced to catch up and hope

Everything would go well, until I took a right

Then I had a new pain and a new regret

The bridge had fallen, a testament to regret

Found myself in the hospital with stiches near my heart

“My friend” said a voice with relief on the right

“I thought I lost you” he said in the dim light

Then I asked where the lass was with a heart of hope

He pointed to a room of dead and I had a heart of pain

In the corner of the hall, I hid my pain,

No hope, no light, just lingering regret

For the lass I thought was right, I had lost her in the light
