Film Lyricist Shakeel Badayuni – A Light House

The Name of the Famous Hindi Film Song Writer Shakeel Baduyani needs no Formal Introduction.

Born on August 3, 1916, in Badayuni (U.P), Shakeel Completed His Education in Aligarh University. Along with doing a goverment job, he regularly participated in “Mushairas”.

In 1944, he shifted to Bombay where he met famous music director Naushad and famous film director A. R. Kardar. Kardar gave Shakeel a chance to write songs first time for the film “DARD” in 1947.

The Songs of film DARD were super hit. In this film singer Uma Devi’s song “Afsaana Likh Rahi Hu” is still alive in the minds of music lovers.

During his 24 years long film career, Shakeel gifted more than 750 songs to his admirers and music lovers with nineteen different music directors. He won the Filmfare best lyricist award constantly for three songs which is still a record that is for song “Chaudhvi Ka Chand Ho” in 1960, Second for the Song “Husan Wale Tera Jawab Nahin” for Film “GHARANA “in 1961 and Third for the Song “Kahin Deep Jale Kahin Dil “for the Film “BEES SAAL BAAD” in 1962.

Shakeel never touched wine all the Life, but the habit of chewing tobacco made him a victim of T.B. He Passed Away on April 20, 1970.
