Fevered

By Joshua

I felt feverish when I got home

So I press a thermometer against my dome

“Beep”

Impassive, I watch my temperature grow

Beep.

My face sheened

With sweat droplets

Beep.

My blood boiled,

And eyes fluttered

Beep.

My head throbbed

Beep.

My heart, pounded.

My forehead has become a fire hazard.

BEEP!

Angry and loud,

The thermometer screams

38.4 it shows on the screen.

But I don’t have a say;

It’s no time to play,

Because, I have to gym today.

I didn’t have to warm up.

I started with shoulders,

Worked on my back.

Destroyed my forearms

And hammered my chest.

Roar.

Arrived back home and let out a sigh

It seems the fever was scared by my bestial cry

I held up my thermometer,

37 displayed on the side

“Am I too powerful?”

I muttered as I flexed

Nothing can stop me now,

I bet

So I took a cold shower;

I wanted to test my power.

Would the virus dare even,

Test my ire?

For those none the wiser,

I was playing with fire.

But after a few minutes,

My temperature dropped to 36.6

By then I think,

The virus had long escaped
